Letter to the editor:

Cable news makes viewers numb

The tragedy in Aurora, Colo., is being rehashed by the cable news channels until it’s become mind-numbing. I am upset and disappointed by this senseless carnage. Nevertheless, this coverage saturation is being shoved down our throats by the cable news. This terrible disaster has been analyzed by commentators to the point where the social value is in a state of greatly diminishing marginal returns — each added minute of continuous viewing brings with it less utility than the previous minute.

The greatest lesson might be to be extremely aware of our surroundings when we are in the public square. Within our population exists lethal evil that presents itself without warning.
