I just read J. Patrick Coolican’s column “Governance is so bad, firefighters won’t even live in North Las Vegas.” Blood pressure up — not good. Unfortunately, my entire working history was in the private sector. Bad choice. Look where I would be now. As a public employee union member, I could wander door to door looking for sympathy. I might only be making $120,000 a year and feel neglected. In reflection, would I feel so unappreciated that I would chuck the whole thing and take my resume to the private sector? Would I find the recognition and money that I am entitled to? Besides that, I would free up a job for one of the vets returning from wars.
