Construction worker stable after falling into trench

A construction worker is in stable condition after falling 14 feet into a trench early this morning in the eastern valley, Clark County spokesman Stacey Welling said.

The incident occurred about 5:40 a.m. at a city of Las Vegas water pollution control facility at 6005 Vegas Valley Drive, near Hollywood Boulevard, Welling said.

The worker slipped while shoring the sides of the trench, she said. Workers tended to him until Clark County firefighters arrived. Rescue crews placed the man in a basket and pulled him out of the trench.

He was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and is in stable condition, Welling said.
