North Las Vegan identified as Hoover Dam bypass bridge jumper

The man who leapt to his death Thursday afternoon from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge has been identified as North Las Vegas resident Jacob Gerard Foreman

Foreman, 39, died from multiple blunt-force injuries after committing suicide by jumping from the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Hoover Dam Police and Metro Police had spent about two hours trying to dissuade Foreman from killing himself. At 12:30 p.m. Thursday, he jumped from the Nevada side of the bridge, hitting rocks before his body reached fell to the Colorado River.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation recovered Foreman’s body. He is the third person known to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge, which opened in 2010. Patricia Oakley, 60, San Jose, Calif., was the first to jump on April 7, 2012.
