Weekend best bets: Demi Lovato, movies under the stars and Il Divo

It may be a little hot, but bring along a cool drink and enjoy a family movie under the stars at The District at Green Valley Ranch. If music is more your tune, check out k.d. lang at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Demi Lovato at the House of Blues or Il Divo at the Colosseum. Here are our best entertainment bets for the weekend:

      Friday: Aaron Lewis at Body English

      Aaron Lewis, lead singer of rock band Staind, headlines a solo show at Soundwaves at Body English at the Hard Rock. Tickets are $40.50, and the show starts at 9 p.m.

      Friday-Saturday: Steven Wright at The Orleans Showroom

      Steven Wright's on-stage persona might have just as much to do with his comedy as do his jokes. But you really have to see him perform to understand his brand of deadpan comedy. Catch him at The Orleans Showroom. Tickets are $38.50-$60.50, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

      Friday-Saturday: Il Divo at The Colosseum

      The Il Divo 2012 world tour, the group's fourth, follows the release of the quartet's latest album, Wicked Game. It provides a new mark of achievement for the group's signature vocal blend and unique operatic arrangements, which have captivated millions and launched a classical-crossover sensation. Tickets are $55-$125, and the show starts at 8 p.m.

    • Friday-Saturday: Movie under the stars at The District

      Enjoy a movie (or two) under the stars that the whole family can enjoy at The District at Green Valley Ranch. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on and picnic baskets with snacks to enjoy. Complimentary popcorn is provided. Admission is free. Friday night's film is "Chicken Run" and Saturday's is "Antz." The films begin at dusk.

    • Friday: Tom Petty tribute band at Lake Las Vegas

      Up for a little "Free Fallin'" on a Friday night? Enjoy a free lakeside concert at The Village at Lake Las Vegas with classic rock from "You Got Lucky," a Tom Petty tribute band. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

    • Singer K.D. Lang performs at the Elton John AIDS Foundation's sixth annual benefit "An Enduring Vision" at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 in New York.

      Friday: k.d. lang at The Smith Center

      k.d. lang’s tour with her new band, the Siss Boom Bang, arrives in Las Vegas in style for an evening of music spanning her entire career, featuring classics like “Constant Craving” and songs from her new album, Sing It Loud. The Milk Carton Kids open the show at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $27-$100, and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

      Saturday: Demi Lovato at the House of Blues

      Demi Lovato's concert has moved from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino to the House of Blues Las Vegas. The actress and singer got her start as a Disney star and has since been making a name for herself on the charts. Hot Chelle Rae opens the show. Tickets are $29.50-$94.50, and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

      Saturday: Sierra Gold grand opening

      Sierra Gold celebrates its 40th tavern opening at its new location at 2400 North Buffalo Dr. Guest can enjoy 50% off of all drinks and pizza, hourly giveaways and free t-shirts to the first 250 people.

    • The beautiful ambassadors of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum will be at Studio 21 to help hand out free drinks, show off their ink and take their chances in the dunk tank.

      Sunday: Fundraiser at Studio 21 Tattoo

      Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Studio 21 Tattoo team up to raise money for the St. Jude’s Ranch For Children in Boulder City with a Where’s The Pool?...Party. The event will take place in the Studio 21 parking lot, sans pool. Guests can dress up for the 1950s-themed party, which will feature Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum Pin-up models. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Boulder City organization dedicated to healing and caring for abused, neglected and abandoned children. Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum will provide free cocktails to those over 21 and the SnOw ONO shaved ice truck will be on hand making special Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum shaved ice cocktails. The Studio 21 crew will be manning the barbecue. The event will also feature an art show, hula and limbo contests, cheesy beach attire contests and raffles for Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum barbecue grills. The event begins at 7 p.m.
