Wet, windy weather should clear up in time for fireworks, forecaster says

High winds and light rain have crashed early Fourth of July celebrations, but it will clear up when it matters, National Weather Service, Las Vegas branch, spokesman Brian Fuis said.

Fuis said a steady fall of light rain and wind gusts of up to 40 mph will last until about 5 p.m. As the night wears on and inches closer to fireworks shows, he said the rain and wind will taper off and become a nonfactor.

Fuis said wind will die down to 10 mph and there will only be isolated showers.

The bleak weather does have a bright side. The wind and rain have cooled the temperature down to 80 degrees after a week in the triple digits, Fuis said.
