The “Repeat or Revenge: Ortiz vs. Berto II” press conference with Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto on Dec. 20, 2011.

Las Vegas will have to wait a while longer for its first major boxing event of 2012.

Golden Boy Promotions announced Tuesday that a welterweight bout between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto, scheduled for Feb. 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, has been postponed. Berto suffered an injury to his left biceps while training Monday night, according to Golden Boy’s release.

The fight will be re-scheduled. All parties involved are already discussing the possible date.

The rematch between Ortiz and Berto was one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The two’s first meeting, in April of last year, was widely considered the Fight of the Year.

Despite his status as a 4-to-1 underdog, Ortiz triumphed to take a unanimous decision against the previously-undefeated Berto. The performance caught the eye of Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who was ringside scouting Berto, and a fight between Ortiz and Mayweather materialized instead.

Mayweather went on to a controversial fourth-round knockout victory over Ortiz. Berto has fought once since the Ortiz loss, winning the IBF championship belt by beating Dejan Zavec.

UFC 158
Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
