Obama speaks at UPS in Las Vegas

President Obama, who arrived in Las Vegas late Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by Mayor Carolyn Goodman at McCarran Airport, stayed at the Element Hotel in Summerlin on Wednesday night. The president ordered 12 pizzas and cannolis from Dom DeMarco’s Pizzeria & Bar for his staff and himself.

Dom DeMarco’s is a new restaurant that opened last month in Summerlin by pizza maker Dom DeMarco of the award-winning Di Fara’s in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to serving the pizza that has been an institution in New York for more than 45 years, the Summerlin location also serves salads, pasta, wine and 12 beers on tap.

Obama spoke at UPS South in Las Vegas this morning and is scheduled to depart for Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado around noon. Thanks to Richard Corey for his video of Obama’s speech (“It’s great to be back in Las Vegas!”) posted on YouTube.

  1. Yep - it's nice to see this mayor act like an adult.

  2. Our "original" mayor is a man true to his convictions..if you don't like someone, why kiss the A** while they are in town and be a hippocrite? Oscar called it like it was at the time..His wife was polite, but doesn't mean she is buddy buddy with Obama..

  4. Yes, but she was THE ONLY democrat willing to get close to this fraud. So I question her intelligence. Even Harry Reid avoided him... And for a man like Harry to miss a photo opp, you know there has to be something seriously wrong...

  5. Meanwhile his wife is down here in Tampa telling all of us we must eat healthy, what a bunch of hypocrites!

  6. It is some comfort that President Obama selected Westin's Element Hotel to stay overnight in, and he kept his food choices with Summerlin's Dom DeMarcos Pizzaria. The President's visit was low key and easy going, not tense---which is quite refreshing after all these Republican Debates of late.

Sure wished he could have spent more time, gotten around a bit more, meet the people working in the schools, and visit impacted neighborhoods due to foreclosures. That would have given the President a better picture of what's going on here in Southern Nevada. Maybe next time.

    Blessings and Peace,
    Star

  7. Is GOPSuxs another RINO troll on here trying to paint the Democrats as childish partisans? I would hope, Democratic posters are too adult to stoop to such silliness.
