Man seriously injured in car-SUV crash

A man was seriously injured Friday night in a head-on crash at the intersection of Russell Road and Annie Oakley Drive, Metro Police said.

The crash happened about 3:50 p.m. and involved a 2007 Toyota Yaris and a 2002 Toyota Sequoia, police said.

Don Roberts, 81, of Las Vegas was driving the Yaris at the time of the collision. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Bonnie Lindsay, 61, of Las Vegas, who was driving the Sequoia was also taken to Sunrise Hospital with moderate injuries, police said.

Witnesses told police the Yaris turned left to travel southbound on Annie Oakley Drive when it was hit on the right side by a Sequoia heading east on Russell Road, police said.

The Yaris made the left turn on a green light and the Sequoia entered the intersection also on a green light, police said. This collision remains under investigation by Metro’s accident investigation section.
