Remember when you used to be able to walk up to the gates at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and buy a ticket to see your favorite bands? Seems like a distant memory now.
Despite the annual Southern California desert fest's move to a two-weekend format for 2012, all passes for the April event sold out today in record time. Weekend 1 was all but sold out going into this morning's 10 a.m. on-sale after a robust pre-sale that allowed fans to purchase passes before the lineup had been announced. A press release went out at 1:45 p.m. announcing that Weekend 2 had also sold out.
Last year's Coachella edition made headlines when it sold out one week after going on sale.
This year's lineup includes headliners The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, along with more than 100 other acts including Pulp, At the Drive-In, Bon Iver, Swedish House Mafia, Jeff Mangum and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
