A motorcyclist is dead after his bike was hit by 2007 Dodge Ram, sending him over the top of another vehicle, according to a Metro Police report.

The accident occurred Friday at approximately 8:52 p.m. on Sahara Avenue at Grand Canyon Drive. Witnesses and evidence indicated that three vehicles including the motorcycle, driven by a 42-year-old Las Vegas man, were in the left travel lane, stopped at a red light.

The Dodge was in the same lane, police say, and failed to stop upon reaching the intersection. The truck, driven by a 36-year-old man from Chandler, Ariz., hit the bike, vaulting the rider over a 2012 Hyundai Tucson and onto the rear window of a 2006 Nissan Sentra, the report says.

The motorcyclist was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The report says the drivers of the Dodge, Hyundai and Nissan suffered minor injuries.

This is the fourth traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction for 2012.

The accident remains under investigation.
