If police officers in Nevada see you on your phone while driving, you can get pulled over.

Metro Police are done warning drivers not to use their cellphones while on the road — as of Sunday those caught texting and talking on a mobile phone can face fines starting at $50.

Since October, police have issued warnings to drivers on cellphones, police said. Now those caught could face a fine of $50 to $250 depending on the number of violations.

This week Metro’s traffic-section officers will establish checkpoints in areas prone to crashes, police said.

These areas are among the top 10 most dangerous intersections in the department’s jurisdiction, police said.

Officers started this afternoon at Sahara Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard handing out citations to those breaking the law, police said.

On Wednesday added patrol will be near the intersection of Charleston and Lamb boulevards; on Thursday around Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road; and on Friday near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway, police said.
