    Running through the playoff brackets

Las Vegas Sun reporters Case Keefer and Ray Brewer discuss the high school basketball playoffs, disagreeing on both brackets. Case likes Canyon Springs to win the Sunrise Regional; Ray think they lose in the first round.

The Foothill High basketball team will be at an advantage for the rest of the Sunrise Regional playoffs.

Foothill is the host site for the final two rounds of the tournament, giving the Southeast Division champion Falcons a leg up on other remaining teams. Foothill beat visiting Desert Pines 80-62 Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

“It’s huge. We practice here every day,” Foothill coach Kevin Soares said about the home-court advantage. “We know the rims. We know the (shooting) background. It’s a huge advantage.”

Brannon Cresanto had 19 points and nine assists in the win, Darren Buckles added 16 points and Taylor Montgomery had 15 rebounds.

Foothill only led 33-30 at halftime before dominating the second half. “We finally started to get stops in the second half,” Soares said. “For awhile there, we would score and they would come right back down and score on us.”
