Letter to the editor:
Saying ‘No mas’ to government
Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 | 2:01 a.m.
Jacob Montijilo Monty’s article “Romney needs to define immigration policy,” opines Republicans should “harness the breeze” of Hispanic emergence. He writes the “phrases ‘illegal’ and ‘illegal’ alien vastly oversimplify what is a complicated issue.”
What’s complicated if you snuck into this country without permission? You are an illegal alien. If you rob a bank you are a bank robber; if you kill someone in cold blood you are a murderer. Should we quit using such terms because we are defining people solely by their behavior? (Don’t even go there: I’m not saying illegal aliens are the same as any of the above.)
Mr. Monty asked how “hostile it would need to get to have people self deport”. How about: If you are in this country illegally you will receive no taxpayer benefits such as welfare, food stamps, health care, driver’s licenses, free education, a job or any of the other things that should be reserved for citizens and those here legally? Like Mr. Monty, I also say, “No mas,” but I say it to a government that — for purely political reasons — chooses which laws it will enforce.
Lastly, Mr. Monty, an expert in immigration and labor law, should know, “Show me your papers,” isn’t unconstitutional: It’s actually federal law.

And to that list the free abortion pill that Obama wants to give them.
The GOP will flesh out the immigration issue as soon as the nominee is known. Romney is the leader but Santorum is surging. Gingrich is ancient history after losing the Trump vote. Paul is Paul. Too old, too libertarian. But a political force to be reckon with, unless of course his supporters move slowly but surely to Santorum.

Legal aliens are required to show their papers. Citizens are not. Therein lies the problem.
Our expert letter writer does not realize the burdens that this zeal for legality in immigration places upon small businesses and poorer citizens. Businesses spend a lot of time doing paperwork and checking documents of everyone. Poorer folks have to spend money they can't spare for fees to get and safely keep the required documents. Losing the basic documents means you can't work and if you can't work you can't afford to get and pay to replace the basic documents you need to work... And you can't get assistance because assistance requires you to prove you are eligible and that requires the documents you don't have and can't get because you don't have a job.
The result of all this is depriving U.S. citizens of jobs and then forcing them to fall into a big hole in "the safety net."
"Lastly, Mr. Monty, an expert in immigration and labor law, should know, "Show me your papers," isn't unconstitutional: It's actually federal law."
Gardner -- which, like far too much of the federal law (Patriot Act, for starters) ignorant posters like you just accept at face value. That's your tacit acceptance legislated acts replace the Bill of Rights. Exactly what part of "No person shall be ... compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself..." -- one's right to remain silent when confronted with any police -- do you need explained to you?
"Where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rulemaking or legislation which would abrogate them." -- Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436, 491 (1966)

I agree with Frank Kenyan Barack has done a decent border job relative to everyone else which is very little. If he had any guts he would actually enforce the existing laws. Hopefully the next president will do more.
And how does Petey know what President Barack Obama has or hasn't done wrt to immigration? What reliable source of information does Petey use? Hmmmm...?
Petey uses Franks' info
WE, the public, have absolutely no idea how "decent" a job Obama has done in regard to illegal immigration and the border. What the public should know is not reported by the media because they back Obama and know that the citizens would be "UP IN ARMS".
It's ironic, because just a few simple steps would send millions of illegal aliensback where they belong (their own country) and the drain on our economy and the job market would be greatly curtailed.
By passing E-Verify making employers, property renters and mortgage lenders/banks it would insure that jobs are filled by citizens and legal DOCUMENTED immigrants plus it would make it nearly impossible to find a place to live. Of course serious mandatory penalties for not following e-verify would be needed starting with like $25,000 fine and increase to jail time of like 5 years or more.
The second thing would be to cut off all government program eligibility to collect benefits to all illegal aliens and to prosecute the fraud that it is. Again, making penalties extremely stiff with immediate deportation after the mandatory jail sentence.
Amnesty is NOT an option in ANY case. Each and every illegal that entered and stayed in this country, took a job, collected benefits etc. knew that they were breaking the law. And, they all knew the consequences if caught. And, regardless of what any of these organizations spewing propoganda that the illegal aliens are not criminals, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IS A CRIMINAL. Do you not understand what illegal means? IT MEANS AGAINST THE LAW.
I'm gonna absolutely love it when the SCOTUS backs the states in their endeavor to simply "enforce federal law" that is already on the books as their state laws.
BTW just discovered this. My fellow independents and those of conservative, self reliance/responsibility ideals...check out Mia Love from Utah. Mayor of Saratoga Springs. Running for congress.

Truth be told the best deterrent to immigration is the slowdown of Bush2/Obama1 economy. No jobs result in no immigration.

If you say so, then I'm sure I didn't and you did.
Thank you.

Well then Petey should actually go look up reliable information and stop using online opinions to form his own opinions...or talking head pundits on radio and TV.
