Temperatures soaring to 70s in Las Vegas, sprinkles possible Saturday night

Cooler weather to make a comeback on Sunday

Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 | 4:26 a.m.

Don’t be surprised if some of your co-workers come down with a touch of spring fever this afternoon, says Kevin Janison, KSNV-TV meteorologist.

"I’m sensing an employment productivity-challenged Friday," Janison said.

"In fact, a Friday in February with tons of sun and a high of 71 degrees? Gonna be hard for anyone to be indoors!"

This morning's morning low will bottom out at 47 degree under that brilliant full moon, he said.

"My advice: enjoy Friday!" Jansison said.

Saturday will remain mild, temperature-wise, but clouds will be on the increase and so will the breezes late in the day, he said.

"Can’t rule out a sprinkle Saturday night, but this first cold front is a reality returner," Janison said.

By Sunday, high temperatures return to the lower 60s, he said.

"Then, a second and stronger cold front is due late Monday with more wind, a chance for Tuesday showers and temps dropping below normal … struggling to reach the mid 50s. Definitely enjoy Friday!" he said.

The National Weather Service is predicting this morning’s low at McCarran International Airport to be 47 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 42 degrees. The record low was 19 degrees, set in 1946 and 1937.

Temperatures at McCarran were to rise today to 56 degrees by 9 a.m., to 66 degrees by noon and reach a high of 70 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 61 degrees and the record high was 74 degrees, set in 1951.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 66 degrees by 6 p.m., to 59 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 55 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Saturday's morning low will be 47 degrees and Saturday's high will climb to 67 degrees, they said.
