Letter to the editor:
Ad overload during the Super Bowl
Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 | 2:02 a.m.
I’m curious about the extensive advertisements during Sunday’s Super Bowl game. Were the commercials sponsoring the game or was the game sponsoring the commercials?

Arthur, for once, in all the commercials that I am normally subjected to, I actually enjoyed the majority of commercials during the Super Bowl. The screen was not littered during this timeframe with private personal bathroom products and sexual medications. For me personally, it was one welcome relief to not be subjected to this advertised trash. So, yes, I loved the Super Bowl commercials!!!
arty, you have to game the system. try to watch the last minutes of the game by keeping track ON LINE or using your remote to surf. i havent watched a complete BOWL in 20 years. same with the half time show.
A big part of the viewing super bowl audience myself included, look forward to watching the super bowl commercials. The newwork goes out of their way to make them entertaining. If only all commercials made you laugh and giggle.
What's a super bowl?
I sincerely hope the networks will eliminate the TV ad's altogether. Prefer to watch the football game and see/hear the commentary instead of viewing the corny commercials.

I thought this year's crop of ads was better than last years overall. I really don't care who is sponsoring here, I want an enjoyable game (which this was) and advertising (which can't be avoided) that is tolerable. Super Bowl ads in general are not only tolerable, but often entertaining in themselves.
I must confess my favorite Super Bowl ad of all time: "Mayday" by Nissan. My favorite spoof of a Super Bowl ad: MAD TV's spoof of Nissan's Barbie, Ken and G.I.Joe ad.
Mr. Ahr,
The answer to your question is that the commercials were sponsoring the game. Now, you are free to be curious about more substantive issues.

Purgatory
This years' Super Bowl set an all time record of
viewers.
The Obama economy is smoken hot.
The best commercial.....
Clint Eastwood for Chrysler and the U.S.A.
Eastwood, a die-hard Republican and Catholic, did an excellent job.

YES, Carmine, Eastwood stood up for Chrysler,
American union workers and the U.S.A.
All republicans should follow his lead.
Purgatory,
Judging by your response to the topic letter, you must be a DEMOCRAT - devoid of any sense-of-humor.
But, thanks for the condescending advice on exploring more substantive issues. LOL...
Eastwood is a Republican and Catholic. He won't be voting for Obama in 2012.
