Police identify victim in Sunday fatal accident

Scene of fatality

The 24-year-old who died Sunday in an accident involving a suspected drunken driver has been identified as Tyson Diver, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner said Diver died of multiple injuries suffered in the three-car accident, which happened at 8:48 p.m. Sunday near Rainbow Boulevard and Wigwam Avenue in the southwest valley.

Veronica Arana, 33, was arrested on a count of DUI-alcohol resulting in death and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. She appeared Wednesday morning before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Conrad Hafen, who set Arana’s bail at $750,000 and scheduled her arraignment for 7:30 a.m. Feb. 13.

Metro Police said Arana was driving a 2003 Toyota 4Runner south on Rainbow Boulevard when she veered left of center, crossing into the northbound lanes and colliding head-on with a 2004 Ford Mustang.

The collision caused a secondary impact with a 2011 Honda Pilot, police said.

Diver, who was driving the Ford Mustang, died at the scene, police said. A 17-year-old girl driving the Honda Pilot suffered minor injuries.

Arana was transported to University Medical Center for moderate injuries, but she was later released and arrested, police said.

The accident was the 13th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
