Letter to the editor:

Bailout should be seen as good thing

Bailout. How often have you heard this word said in a negative way?

When I hear this word, I think of it in a very positive way. To me it means we were willing to invest in each other in hope of getting out of a bad situation.

Ask the employees who directly or indirectly worked for GM how they view it. This investment saved an American auto company. It saved the jobs of the executives and many other corporate employees. It saved all the union and nonunion workers, all the dealers who sold the cars, all the sales and repair people who worked at the dealerships, all the people and companies who supplied the needed parts to build these cars and trucks, and all the investors who still believed in this company. Based on the results, I would say we made a good investment in ourselves — one of many. If you look at all the people whose jobs were saved, I am sure you will find Democrats, Republicans, independents and people belonging to other political parties.

How can something so positive for the American people be conceived as being so negative?
