Metro police identify officers involved in shooting at knife-wielding suspect

Metro Police today identified Officers Steven T. Williams and Keegan A. Doty as the officers involved in a shooting earlier this week.

The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon in the 2000 block of East Fremont Street, where police say a man they were trying to stop on the street ran from the, then took out a knife and started swinging it at them.

Police said several shots were fired. The suspect, Larry Barber, 37, Las Vegas, was transported to University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Williams has been with the department since September 2008 and Doty has been with the department since April 2008. Both officers are assigned to the patrol division of the downtown area command and both remain on paid administrative leave.
