Three local high school basketball players on Thursday were selected for the Jordan Brand Classic team.
Bishop Gorman High’s Shabazz Muhammad, and Findlay Prep ’s Brandon Ashley and Anthony Bennett each earned a spot in the prestigious game. With alumni such as Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin, it’s one of two important all-star showcases after the high school season.
Muhammad and Bennett, two consensus top-10 prospects, are each uncommitted recruits who are considering hometown UNLV. The 6-foot-8 Ashley, who is signed with Arizona, is ranked as the No. 10 overall recruiting prospect by ESPN.
All three were also nominated for The McDonald’s All-American game, where rosters will be announced Feb. 9.
The 11th annual Jordan Brand Classic is April 14 in Charlotte at Time Warner Cable Arena.
