Man shot by NHP after chase in Las Vegas

Authorities say an early morning car chase in Las Vegas ended with troopers shooting a man and arresting a female who was also in the car.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott says the man was taken to University Medical Center after the incident that started about 4 a.m. Monday. His condition is unknown.

Elliott says a trooper tried to make a traffic stop near Nellis Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, but the vehicle fled onto northbound U.S. 95.

Troopers say they put out spike strips to stop the vehicle, but the chase continued until sparks from the flattened tires set the vehicle on fire.

Elliott says the suspect got out and exchanged gunfire with officers near Jones Boulevard and U.S. 95.

The man was struck, but no troopers were hurt.
