Man arrested in sexual assault near Las Vegas Strip

A California man suspected in a September sexual assault near the Las Vegas Strip was arrested last weekend, Metro Police said Friday.

Rosendo Bravo Lopez, 24, was arrested Saturday in his hometown of Salinas, Calif., police said in a statement.

Lopez is accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman on the night of Sept. 1 in the 3000 block of Joe W. Brown Drive, police said.

According to police, the victim, who was walking back to her hotel, was found by security officers after running barefoot down the street yelling for help.

The suspect was captured on video fleeing in the opposite direction of the victim and was also caught on tape walking on Las Vegas Boulevard near the Riviera prior to the assault, police said.

On Dec. 18, police identified Lopez as a suspect in the assault and issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of sexual assault, battery with intent to commit sexual assault and coercion.

Lopez was arrested by the Salinas Police Department and is being held in the Monterey County Jail in California, awaiting extradition to Nevada, Metro Police said.
