MACAU — We blazed over the causeway in the thick, constant evening fog until suddenly I was surrounded by more light than I could digest. It was disorienting and anxiety-inducing, an over-stimulating visual feast that jammed the circuitry in my head and accelerated my respiration. I find it amusing that guys like Adelson and Wynn are ticked off at our government yet have no problems dealing with Communist China - a place that still jails its journalists and at the snap of their fingers can take it all away. Kind of lets you know the low level these guys will sink to make more money than they could possible ever need. Sort of its own version of socialism as the government allowed the gambling district to flourish. Just imagine if Washington D.C. told the taxpayers they were making a strip of land in the ocean for gaming. And let's remember how MGM gave up Atlantic City to deal with mobsters Ho. Meanwhile, MGM builds more nightclubs with Saudi investors on the Strip and Caesars builds an upscale mall of sorts with an observation wheel. These guys take the easy route in the U.S. and not try to be innovative here. And they want to legalize on-line gaming so less people come here or Atlantic City hurting the local economies further. There is no question this will eventually collapse in China as new dictator heads either shut it all down or demand over 50% of the take. It's not like there's a court system for redress for Wynn, Adelson, Caesars and MGM. And heaven forbid they get on anyone's bad side over there. It may not be very healthy. Let along what sort of retribution may happen here in Vegas.
I don't understand the title of this article at all. There is nothing in the article which translates as to how better it is for Vegas as Macau gets bigger. If anything, the article states how Macau is doing five times better than Vegas but nothing that shows how those monies are brought back to Vegas and help those that live here.
I've never bought the argument that if it weren't for Macau all these casinos would have gone under. Are we prepared to say that Wynn, Adelson, and the other corporations are such poor business people they'd be caught with their pants down? That they're no better business people than the baker who closes his doors because of a market slump? Aren't these companies getting business awards and kudos all the time? And now they're saying if it weren't for China, (of all places,) they'd have had their butts in the ringer? Oh, please, they'd have figured something out - they always do.

Exactly chediski! Just wait, its only a matter of time before Adelson and Wynn get political over there. Their Communist Masters simply won't allow it. They could, at the drop of a hat, lose it all, or even be imprisioned there. They are both probably too stupid to realize that there is likely a large dossier on each of them including all their "other" transactions, that is just waiting to be sprung on them. They can't really know the game well enough over there, and they are two large pigs just waiting to be stuck!

And their means of collecting??? Maybe a few people get beat up/killed and the commies crack down on Wynn and Adelson like the bunch of little punks they are...."OH CHINA IS SOOOO GREAT!!"

Adeleon stupid? Wynn stupid? Nope. We Americans are dumb enough to let those gents abuse our political system to the point of harming the social fabric of our once great country. Health care for Americans? Hell no! College assistence for our best and brightest? Double hell no! Adelson and Wynn would be only too thrilled to see young Americans graduate so knee deep in debt. We watch helplessly as our government disfunctions over how to cut, cut, cut us into a shell of what we once were. Infrasructure for America? Hell no! We'll sit and watch as the Chinese build high speed railways to all corners of their great country. We can't fix a pothole anymore. Wynn and Adelson stupid? They're paying the Chinese 35 % of their revenue. Wanna see stupid? Look in the mirror.
