MOUND HOUSE — The brothel lobbyist always rings twice, George Flint explained as he shambled up the walkway to the Sagebrush Ranch, a scattering of bawdy houses in a cul-de-sac just 10 minutes from the Legislature. That way, the working girls know they don’t have to line up to primp for a paying customer. Inside, the small brothel is Nevada casino dark, tinged with red lighting. During Flint’s visit on a recent Wednesday afternoon, girls napped on couches and armchairs. One curled up under a red blanket. Another dangled her feet, in platform stiletto heels, over the arm of a ...

Vegas sends a double message to visitors which is unfair, some tourist does not beleive or know what the law is, then they get ripped off by the cops or some escort service.
Not to be too politically correct, but a graphic showing a guy aiming a harpoon at a image of a women maybe is a little off key.
This isn't rocket science. This is the 21st century. Legalize it. Tax it. Put a smile on all those Iowa farm boys faces.
"Amid all of the moral and ethical issues surrounding prostitution, Flint's reality is that men pay for sex. They've been doing so for thousands of years, and they're still doing it today."
Consenting adults doing what they want to do in private. What a concept.
"This is the 21st century. Legalize it. Tax it."
FreedomRadio -- more like "Decriminalize it." Big difference.
"With morality the individual is led into being a function of the herd and to ascribing value to himself only as a function. . .Morality is the herd instinct in the individual." -- Frederich Nietzsche 1882 "The Gay Science"
The rational that exists for having legalized prostitution in the Silver State in the first place is justification for legalizing it in Clark County. It's just plain stupid to waste the time, effort and manpower trying to shut prostitution down. It only leads to corruption on the part of those "enforcing" the laws. We see that on a regular basis. Besides, by legalizing prostitution in CC, it would make it safer and healthier for both sides engaged in the transaction. Enough with "Blue-noses" trying to legislate morality. It's a lost cause!
Legal prostitution in Las Vegas is:
1. Smart
2. Good for business
3. Provides good paying jobs
4. Serves an important need for the disabled and other disfigured people. (50% of customers at brothels)
5. STOPS WASTING TAX MONEY ON STUPID ENFORCEMENT OF THIS PURITANICAL LAW.
While tourists walk along the strip and try to avoid the handbills while watching to Hot Babes signs drive by, many assume that prostitution is legal in Las Vegas. The advertising of it is legal but if you fall for the scam, it is a crime.
HYSTERICAL! "Virginia Valentine, president of the Nevada Resort Association, which lobbies for most of the major casinos, said in a statement: "We do not condone the conduct of any illegal activity ... and would not support legalization" in Clark County."
AND... "Billy Vassiliadis, a top lobbyist and marketer in Las Vegas -- but not speaking on behalf of the Nevada Resort Association, in this case -- said legalizing prostitution would damage the prestige of the Strip, where some of the highest-class resorts in the world have been built.
"It is not consistent with what business travelers, convention delegates want," he said."
Are these people for real?? What a couple of hypocrites!! What do they think Vegas is, a Temple or something? High rollers GET exactly what they want and these two know it. They can take some of the $200 million in taxes and use it get tourism and business development here. This B.S. about having a clean image is so asinine they should lose their jobs. Gee - how much money and man power from law enforcement can be used in other places? This is already a legal industry. Gaming was once illegal and then was regulated. Same here. To talk about moral objections in a place that is world famous because of the "sin" of gaming and drinking makes me wonder what other mentally twisted thinking goes on in their heads.
Oh, and OF COURSE the casinos don't want it because it's money not going into their places!!! Mind you, they look the other way for their high rollers or have staff get some money from a call girl and look the other way so she can do her trade. They're all over their places and every security guard knows it. Maybe if it became the strong revenue source in the treasury it would keep the heat off the casinos when the State asks them to pay more in fees and taxes. They should look at the bottom line. They'll deal with Communist China in Macau, but not here.
Opposition to legalization falls into two camps -- those who genuinely oppose it on moral grounds & those whose motives are "less pure" (such as pimps, trafficers and posturing hypocrites). I would put most of the casino & political heirarchy into the "less pure" camp given their penchant for eagerly trying to profit off other human weaknesses, but either way all their opposition & failed policies have accomplished is to drive it under-ground -- directly fostering violent crime, the abuse of women & children, and human trafficing. (And any pretense that it's illegal elsewhere in the US, CAN or MEX and that LV's "reputation" will suffer if it comes out the shadows is a bunch of c**p. Services are available in every city, everywhere -- and are simply encouraging crime, abuse & trafficing on a worldwide scale.)
It would be nice to narrow the gap between what exists in fact and what we pretend to prohibit through largely unenforceable laws.
Legalized brothels may happen here in Clark County in the future.
But I think that it's naive to think that this will stop illegal, unregulated and untaxed prostitution from continuing to occur.
The staggering amount of $$ from illegal prostitution in the city alone, demands that we needs to legalize, regulate, and tax the hell outta it.
More money for the city, less problems(criminal, health, and civil) and the police can focus more on other criminal problems.
This is Las Vegas, come on man....
This is not without a great deal of risk and I am NOT advocating the passage. But despite the exceptional architectural collection and entertainment value of Las Vegas, "sin city" is now virtually mainstream. If pot was legalized and prostitution was legalized it would certainly be a game changer. Frankly with all of the current readily available material on the Strip that aggressively advertises adult entertainment, what is the difference?
never been with a hooker, maybe never will but ive been approached over 20 times in vegas casinos while gambling. i am older & obese. they figure i am looking for any 'lovin' possible. prostitution is rampant ON CASINO PROPERTIES and they do nothing to dissuade it.
once i was being harassed by what appeared to be a drug addled working girl while playing a slot machine. she began yelling at me because i wasnt interested in her services. i eventually got security to come over & they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING & just walked away from the situation. i was very disappointed. so now i do not frequent this 'nice' establishment anymore.
i agree with the legalization in clark county not only for the tax base but also for safety & convenience. i have brokered many deals for my friends who partake but if one of them gets arrested for doing what i believe 5-10% of visitors do in your fine city that would be terrible.
i live in detroit, right across the border from windsor, canada. prostitution is legal there but on an outcall basis only. this has resurrected a lot of the struggling low grade motels just over the border as i believe most of their business comes from the U.S.A. (by their license plates)
its amusing for me to see the quality of the working girls rise (or fall) with the quality of the casino. the best girl so far (most tempting) was at the wynn last march. while talking she stated she flew in from minnesota for a 'working weekend' & was leaving later that (monday) morning. she was so beautiful i'm still thinking of her.
maybe i should visit minnesota next vacation.
Some thoughts. Why is it legal to get paid for sex with strangers in a pornographic film but not in a motel room? Why is okay for women to lie down on the "casting" couch to get a paying role in a movie but not a couch in their own home? Why is okay for "consenting" adults to bang each other for free but not for gain? Whose business is it anyhow as long as there is no violence or criminal act (besides the supposed one of prostitution) being committed?
Legalize it and tax it, just like pot, and use some of the money to pay for security in our schools.
Lawmakers need to legalize prostitution in Clark County and assure tax revenues generated go towards supporting the infrastructure here. Vice can then concentrate on the criminal human trafficking and illegal abuse of children in the industry. As Mr.Flint stated, the sex industry has been around for thousands of years, and it ain't going to change anytime soon, but we can start making it safer for both parties, regulate it, and collect tax revenues from this industry.
Las Vegas has a very diverse IMAGE. While dining at B####as for my son's birthday, seated next to us were 3 out of town businessmen, who did virtually nothing more than discuss visiting prostitutes (I did not initiate this conversation nor partake in it, btw). For all the public image posturing the gaming/resorts do, it does not change the fact that individuals come here and include some sexual diversion as part of their visiting experience.
Other counties here in Nevada, have legalized, regulated, and safe brothels. Like many Commenters have stated here, let's legalize it here in Clark County, regulate it, and TAX it. Please.
Blessings and Peace,
