What if you could rent out a sleek Airstream recreational vehicle for the night as a hotel room? Though it is still in the early stages, the idea to put an Airstream park in downtown Las Vegas on East Fremont Street is being one kicked around by the Downtown Project. It might not be difficult to obtain the necessary zoning and other city permits, however, because the idea isn’t new to Fremont Street. For years, the Western RV Park existed at 10th and Fremont, part of the now-closed The Western casino. Guess who owns the land now? Several acres between ...

And this would be better (or cheaper even) than staying in a hotel how??
A better idea would be to rent out the spaces to travel trailers / campers coming through the area...short term of course and at rates $30 to $50 per day.
Who wants to go on vacation to see what it's like living in a trailer park? What if your the unlucky sucker who lives in a trailer park and can only come to vegas and stay in another trailer park!
It should be called the Downtown Sun. I actually drove through downtown last night and it was quiet as a whistle at around 6pm. I'm not sure where all this activity is happening but it wasn't in the Arts District. All I saw was blight and tall chain link fences.
Give me a frigging break! Put up an Airstream trailer park on the empty scraped hotel block at 9th and Fremont so that hipster wannabes can stay there and act all cool--please!!! It is so tired, so boring, so ugly. It has been done better by others already on the Southern border of Arizona as a historical restoration project. Downtown Project needs to get off their trailer fixation and either rehab old buildings or build new buildings, especially housing. Trailers are NOT an acceptable urban planning technique.
Why not change Fremont St to Zappos St, and the new campground Tony's Trailers.
LOL yah all you posters just stay home and hide
under your beds! Every thing will be alright in
the morning. I was there last night and when you
drive you should take off your blinders! I had
Lobster tails at Tonys! MMMM. Eat your Hearts out
(if you have one)??
Why not build a casino designed to house & entertain RVs on that site? You could step out of your mobile home into a casino restaurant, play slot machines right outside your front door, hook up sports book & Keno feeds to your TV, or play Hold 'em a few feet from your kitchen! Dancing girls and country rock bands all around! Plenty of kids' gaming areas -- I mean play areas. If you don't own an RV you could fly in, rent one, have fun for a few days and drive it away! Call it Rolling Home Casino Park, or Airstream Slot & Poker Paradise. Anything is possible.
I like the idea and the location of the Airstreams will allow the direct access to "door2door" hooker and meth delivery! Maybe they can customize the trailer to have a bullet proof plexi-glass window with a slot?
I have to agree with TeamSG1. The Sun seems to have a distinct fondness for spraying perfume on the elephant dung, commonly known as Downtown Las Vegas. It is clearly unwarranted hype at this point. I've been downtown. I've seen and smelled the limburger. It doesn't matter who owns the land now. It will take at least a decade before any maximum cleanup and investments will show minimal results.
circus circus has done this for years
The Downtown Project should consider talking to Jay Shafer, a Tiny House Pioneer. I think his idea of a Tiny House Village would be a better addition to Downtown than Airstreams.
