Geoconda Arguello-Kline, a former housekeeper and union organizer, has been elected to the top position with the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 in Las Vegas, the first woman to hold the post of secretary-treasurer. She replaces D. Taylor, who left the post to head UNITE HERE, the Culinary's parent union, which represents about 250,000 workers nationwide. “I’m tremendously honored to take on this position. 1. Looks like an American success story. But couldn't she have stayed in Nicaragua if she was going to end up a communist anyway?

  2. Quite an accomplishment for her

  3. Is she a citizen and if so when did she become one. Been here since 79. Just curious.

  4. More of the same garbage will be coming out of the Culinary Union. Geoconda = D. Taylor. Both are so bought by politicians seeking office that you will NEVER see them do what is right for the people they represent. Ever been to their union hall? I have, and not as a member (I would never join this or any other corrupt union). I sat in the lobby and watched as one member after another was treated like garbage by the receptionist. I've seen the political contributions that come out of that place. It's insane! Treat your members like human beings, and quit using their money to advance your own careers! Congrats to D. Taylor on using enough other peoples' money to have been able to advance your career to where you are now. Pathetic I tell you! Pathetic!

  5. My best memories of the union from the 1960's were the large pinkey ring of the slob union Business Agent who appeared every month to collect the dues. Todays Culinary Union is not an effective union and is a political arm of the Democrat Party. When the contract comes up for rnwl next year sparks will fly.

  6. when is D. Taylor going to start using his actual first name?
