Adelson made $10 million, 11th-hour donation to Romney super PAC

Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson kept giving and giving to the bitter end of Republican Mitt Romney’s doomed presidential campaign. Adelson, along with wife, Miriam, poured $10 million into the account of pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future on Oct. 19, new documents filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission indicate. The massive donation represents nearly half the $21.15 million Restore Our Future raised between Oct. 18 through Election Day on Nov. 6 — an amount that exceeds what nearly every other super PAC in the nation collected during the past two years. An eclectic mix of notable businesspeople also ...

  1. The supply of older white men will grow if you keep spending. In 12 to 16 years you may have enough to elect a republican President.

  2. They wouldn't have to spend so much if they could keep the illegals and independant democratic buisness men from voting. The inependant democratic
buisnessmen are the ones who hold cardboard signs on the street corners and wait for the republicans who have jobs to toss them some money to support their booze and drug habits.

  3. wow. imagine if that money had been spent on something useful like helping the homeless get off the streets or youth intervention programs to keep kids in school. never are our nation's priorities more clear than during election season.

  4. people can do what they want with ones own cash. (byis1) seems to understand that all street people are democratic. "really" LOL ok !! dude anything you say..

  5. Adelson is an embarassment to those of our faith who believe in and love our country.

One definition of mental illness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Almost all the candidates he spent millions on lost. Yet he claims he'll spend another $100 million to get his chosen people elected.

Renounce your U. S. citizenship Sheldon, and move to Israel, our most stable ally in the middle east. Use your money to support them so less of my tax dollars have to.

  6. Good for him, good for the economy. Those millions turned into pay checks for lots of people.

It is his money and he can do what he wants with it. He has proven though over the years that when it comes to politics he tends to back the losers.

Either way, it is out of his bank account and in circulation. ;-)

  7. Hey, it's not problem. The Sands Corporation is paying a special stock dividend of over 2 Billion in Dec. Will help Sheldon build his bank account.

This shows why we, the 99%, need to contact our Senators and Representatives and get the law changed to overturn Citizens United. Do we want the super rich to own our elected officials?

  8. He must enjoy flushing his money down the toilet.

  9. He is buying influence to change the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act so he weasel out of his crimes .

  10. The money being made from Sheldon Adelson's Macau and Singapore casino operations have made him drunk with power. In addition, this guy is hurting the future expansion of the domestic casino industry. Or more direct, hurting Adelson's opportunties for domestic expansion.

Why? State and local representatives from States approving gaming will think twice about allowing Adelson (or Wynn) in. Because either guy could support a candidate or candidates not considered in the best interest of State of community. In other words it will cost them more.

Plus a ground-check for either guy will be like spending all day with an enthusiastic Proctologist with a deficit attention disorder.

  11. too bad he's too greedy to use that money to help his employees, the ones that bring in all his wealth, with health care and retirement.

Another sign of the apocalypse when $100 million can't buy a Republican election.

  12. Why is the Sun more concerned about Shelley spending his own money then Obumma picking losers with ours?

  13. I used to bring visitors and guests to see Adelson's megaplexes. Now I tell them they can go to those places on their own. Never setting foot on his corrupt properties again. I'm glad he lost. He's an idiot when he says that Romney will do a better job with Israel. Republicans and Jews of any moral intellect at all don't mix. His greed has overtaken his faith. He's the kind of guy Jesus, (another Jew,) got ticked at in the temple. Look at him. Probably has a slew of medical conditions. The man's got all that money but can't take care of himself. And as far as being a charitable guy, he does it for the write offs. Like to see him toss his future $100 million at something that matters rather than buying elections. This guy BELONGS in China.

  14. Adelson is giving big money to those who he feels will keep his ugly old butt out of prison for violating Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. When that happens the recipients of his big money can contribute to his canteen fund at the federal prison.

  15. i find it someways ironic a man who has made so much money from gambling, himself continually loses big on the wrong horse

sands stock was at $6 a share the day obama was inaugurated, despite the fact its value went up by 700% during obamas terms sheldon still tried everything to get him out.....wow

  16. You get what you pay for.

  17. sands stock was at $6 a share the day obama was inaugurated, despite the fact its value went up by 700% during obamas terms sheldon still tried everything to get him out.....wow

His stock went up because of his investment in Macau.
