A California man suspected of sexually assaulting two young children earlier this summer in Las Vegas is in custody.

Metro Police detectives arrested Diondre Phifer, 27, Wednesday night at an apartment near Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane, according to a Metro news release issued Thursday morning.

Phifer is in custody on two counts of lewdness with a minor under 14, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of battery with intent to commit sexual assault and sexual assault of a victim under 14.

He is suspected of luring a 3-year-old and 6-year-old on June 20 into an apartment near Tropicana and Maryland Parkway, police said, where he allegedly exposed himself and touched one of the children. He reportedly fled the apartment when a parent confronted him.

Phifer is in custody in the Clark County Detention Center without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
