Letter to the editor:

Save money, send dog to sanctuary

Regarding the recent article about Onion the dog on death row:

It should be noted that the grandmother has filed an affidavit saying that she signed the paperwork relinquishing Onion to the authorities under extreme duress and, more importantly, that she and her son want Onion to be released to the sanctuary that has offered to take him.

Perhaps the city of Henderson could save what must be a ridiculous amount of money housing Onion while trying to win the right to kill this poor dog by simply agreeing to do the humane thing and release it to the sanctuary and better spend the money to keep its libraries open.

  1. Save the dog, and the money, send to a dog sanctuary.

  2. That would be a logical thing to do but when was the last time government used simple logic? My guess is no one person can actually make that decision.

  3. Trisha, to the point and realistic.

It would be the right and wise thing for Henderson to do.
