Cooking causes fire in apartment unit

Fire in apartment

A man’s cooking caused an early morning fire east of the Strip, according to officials.

The fire occurred just before 6 a.m. at Paradise Park Apartments, 446 E. Twain Ave., said Clark County spokesman Erik Pappa. The man was cooking when the stove caught fire, and the flames soon spread to the apartment’s cabinets and walls, Pappa said.

Clark County firefighters knocked down the flames within five to 10 minutes, Pappa said. The man has been displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The fire caused an estimated $15,000 to $20,000 in damages; no other apartment units were affected
