Metro Police have arrested a Las Vegas man in connection with a shooting outside an east valley convenience store Thursday morning that left one man dead.

James “Crazy” Johnson, 20, was arrested early Friday morning at a home in the 2400 block of Abarth Street, less than a mile from the crime scene. A four-hour standoff with Metro’s SWAT team preceded the arrest.

Johnson is suspected in the shooting death of 37-year-old Las Vegas resident Chadrick Wilson, who was killed in the parking lot outside the Sahara Mini Mart, 5105 East Sahara Ave., near South Nellis Boulevard.

According to police, at least two men were arguing inside the store. The dispute spilled into the parking lot, where Johnson produced a handgun and shot Wilson multiple times.

Wilson was transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center, where he later died of his injuries.

Johnson is incarcerated without bail in the Clark County Detention Center on counts of murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, battery and coercion.
