A mother and daughter accused of killing an elderly neighbor and stealing her coin collection were arrested Sunday, according to Metro Police arrest reports.
Lourie Rodriguez, 46, and her daughter, Amber Hall, 26, were arrested on suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon on a victim older than 65, robbery with a deadly weapon of an older person and burglary with use of a deadly weapon.
They also face counts of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary, obtaining or possession of a credit card without the cardholder’s permission, and conspiracy to commit burglary with use of a deadly weapon, according to Clark County Detention Center records.
The victim, 73-year-old Jean Greenburg, was found dead in her reclining chair Friday night when two friends stopped by to check on her, the police report said. Greenburg lived alone at the Pinewood Apartments, 3601 Cambridge St., the report said.
The friends discovered Greenburg covered in blood and unresponsive, according to the arrest report.
They said somebody had stolen part of Greenburg’s coin collection a month ago, a burglary that had been reported to police, the report said.
Detectives also interviewed Rodriguez, who said she and her daughter normally checked on Greenburg, the report states. Rodriguez reportedly told police she had last seen Greenburg Thursday evening.
On Saturday evening, police were alerted to activity on Greenburg’s bank account when someone tried to withdraw funds from an ATM at a Twain Avenue grocery store, the report said.
Police obtained surveillance video showing two women resembling Hall and Rodriguez using the ATM, the report said.
Authorities secured a search warrant for their residence on Swenson Street and found $2,530, which detectives believe came from pawning the victim’s property, in addition to bloody clothing, the report said.
In an outside trash bin, detectives found property belonging to Greenburg, items related to coin collecting, a knife and a broken piece of wood, the report said.
Rodriguez and Hall allegedly confessed to plotting the slaying of Greenburg so they could steal her coin collection, the arrest report said.
Hall told detectives she, her 3-month-old son and her mother visited Greenburg on Thursday evening with the intent to kill her, the report states. The pair wore two sets of clothing and brought a knife and large piece of wood hidden in a baby stroller, the report said.
The women attacked Greenburg as she sat in her recliner, repeatedly stabbing her with the knife and beating her in the head with the wood chunk, according to the arrest report.
“On Saturday morning, they went to a pawn shop together and sold the coins for approximately $2,000,” the report said.
Hall and Rodriguez were booked into the Clark County Detention Center, where they were being held without bail, according to jail records. Their first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Looking at the mug shots, the mother looks like a total meth head and the daughter is not far behind. It is beyond me how anyone would let people like that into their homes.

Yeah, blame Obama. Laughable. Let's see, Bush 2 was the leader from 2000-2008 when the economic implosion occurred but somehow Obama is to blame for what is going on now? He inherited a broken economy. Why do you think a liberal, black man was elected in the first place? Because the population was so fed up with the republican Bush they were willing to elect just about any warm body that had no association whatsoever with republican policies.

I agree 100%, any pair of skanks looking like those two even set foot in my house and they would get a severe case of lead poisoning.
Here we go again, we the people will be responsible of taking care of three more people. If you wonder why these people cannot work, you now know why. I believe that these people that go to prison should work for their room and board. How many of these types of people can the state continue to support.
Thank god this is newsworthy, I'd hate to think it was so commonplace as to be not noticed.
