    • Citi, the Foundation for Small Business Development and the U.S. Small Business Association have launched the Partnership for Small Business Development, a training and certification program designed to empower minority- and women-owned business enterprises to grow. The program will provide certification enabling businesses to qualify for set-aside contracts of large vendors and will provide training to enable the businesses to compete for additional contracting opportunities.

    • Wells Fargo & Company received the Silver level U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition of the 10,000 hours its team members volunteered with Junior Achievement USA in 2010-11. Junior Achievement presented it to Wells Fargo on March 13 at its board reception and dinner in New York.

    • Wildburger will become the signature restaurant for the Wildfire Gaming division of Station Casinos. Wildfire restaurants will be at Wildfire Rancho in Las Vegas and at Wildfire Boulder and Wildfire Lanes in Henderson.

    • Sixteen Southern Nevada employers have been nominated for the Department of Defense Freedom Award for providing exceptional employer support to members of the National Guard or Reserve military. Las Vegas companies receiving nominations: Aria; Bellagio; Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas; Holiday Systems International; JT3; Masterpiece Industries; Modern Technology Solutions; National Labor Relations Board; Nevada Department of Transportation; Polar Air & Heating; Serenity Hospice; Tao Group — Marquee Nightclub; and Thor Construction. Other nominees were CSC-ATD, Range Support Services of North Las Vegas; Nevada Department of Corrections of Indian Springs; and Fiesta Henderson.

    • Findlay Automotive Group will add to its franchise locations with Findlay Fiat, expected to open in mid-June in Henderson.

    • Las Vegas Custom Cakes Bakery and Coffee House has opened at 5243 W. Charleston Blvd.

    • Fashion boutique Sparkle by Patty’s Closet has opened at 9440 W. Sahara Ave.

    • Bank of Nevada became the first participant in the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas’ Community Partnership program, which highlights Academy programs and promotes its Westside Bistro.
