Hikers rescued
Rescue crews saved three hikers Monday at Ice Box Canyon in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Metro Police said.
Authorities received the call from one of the three men at 4:43 p.m. and were able to rescue the three around 6:30 p.m., police said.
Police say the men’s cellphones were dying as they spoke with dispatch to try to help the helicopter crew locate their position, police said.
When the helicopter was close to the hikers, the three men in their 20s flashed their cellphone screens, causing a reflection that the Search & Rescue crew could see.
No injuries were reported, police said.
