Letter to the editor:

Republicans must go on the offensive

What Mitt Romney and the Republicans must do from now until November is deconstruct the existing political platform of President Barack Obama.

Thanks to aggressive campaigning by the Republican candidates, many strong accusations have already been leveled at President Obama, which will, in turn, rebut Obama’s attacks on the Republican candidate, who is presumed to be Mitt Romney. Also, because of aggressive cross vetting by the GOP primary candidates, there is little, if anything, new for Obama to say about Romney.

They must argue that Obama’s policies systematically undermine America’s strengths, that unemployment and hardship have continued to stubbornly visit Americans during his first four years, and that whatever progress has been made is tepid and inconsequential. They must convince voters that the fundamental American values of free enterprise, individual accountability, liberty, small government, strong national security and American exceptionalism are the defining values on which America must proceed as a nation and are vital to restoring prosperity and upward mobility to the middle class.
