Matt Murphy had a 72-yard touchdown reception and a 60-yard punt return for another score to help the Sierra Vista High football team win its first game of the year, a hard-fought 36-35 win against visiting Pahrump Valley.

Justin Green added 150 yards rushing and a kickoff return for a touchdown for the Mountain Lions (1-2 overall, 1-1 Southwest).

Quarterback Taz Wilson had two touchdown passes for Sierra Vista, including one to Cailyn Patton.

Pahrump (1-2, 1-1), which snapped a 30-game losing streak last week by beating Western, was one point away from winning in consecutive weeks.

“They are a much improved team,” Sierra Vista coach Mark Sauve said.
