Late interception gives Foothill victory in league opener

Dylan Freiling’s interception late in the fourth quarter helped the Foothill High football team hang on for a 10-6 victory against Coronado in the Southeast Division opener for both schools.

Foothill led 10-0 at halftime, receiving a 35-yard scoring strike from quarterback Drew Doxtator to Amod Turner and a 20-yard field goal seconds before halftime from Vincent Franzeo.

The Foothill (4-0, 1-0 Southeast) defense stole the show in the second half, only allowing six points to secure the win.

“I thought our defense played extremely well. Offensively, we moved the ball well, but we had some turnovers and penalties that hurt us,” Foothill coach Marty Redmond said.
