Fans who want to avoid traffic and parking headaches at Rebels football games this season can take a special game-day bus to Sam Boyd Stadium.

The Regional Transportation Commission will provide bus service to the stadium on routes 601 and 602 for five UNLV home games this season.

The routes, combined with the new express bus lines that begin operating Sunday on Boulder Highway, should make getting to the game fairly easy from most parts of the valley.

Passengers coming from the Strip can board route 602 at the eastbound bus stop on Las Vegas Boulevard at Tropicana Avenue. The bus goes down Tropicana Avenue, stopping only at the main UNLV campus and Boulder Highway before heading to the stadium.

Fans coming from other parts of the valley can get on the new Boulder Highway Express or Henderson and Downtown Express, both of which stop at the Bonneville Transit Center downtown and run down Boulder Highway, where passengers can transfer to routes 601 or 602 at Tropicana Avenue.

Route 602 runs a continuous loop from Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue to the stadium. The loop goes from Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway to Broadbent Boulevard to the stadium. It takes Russell Road and Boulder Highway back to Tropicana, making a stop every quarter mile.

Buses will run about every 20 minutes on both routes 601 and 602.

The Henderson and Boulder Highway express routes don’t begin operating until Sunday, but fans going to this Saturday’s game can take the old route 107, which runs on Boulder Highway.

The RTC recommends passengers buy a 24-hour pass for $5 to cover the cost of the roundtrip.

Routes 601 and 602 will operate from 3 to 11 p.m. for Saturday’s 7 p.m. game against Hawaii; from 2 to 10 p.m. Sept. 24 for the 6 p.m. game against Southern Utah; from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 29 for the 3 p.m. game against Colorado State; from 3:30 to 11:30 p.m. Nov. 5 for the 7:30 p.m. game against Boise State; and from 3 to 11 p.m. Nov. 26 for the 7 p.m. game against San Diego State.
