KSNV coverage of Metro Police investigation into body found in desert in the northwest valley, Sept. 3, 2011.
Detectives were investigating whether a body found in a desert area in the northwest valley Saturday night is related to a girl reported missing the previous day, Metro Police said.
The body was discovered about 100 yards off the road near Oso Blanco Road and Grand Teton Drive, police said. The area, which borders U.S. 95, is largely residential, but there are two large, undeveloped tracts of desert at the intersection.
The body found appears to be that of a female, police said. A juvenile female was reported missing on Friday, and officials are investigating whether the incidents are related, police said.
As of 11 p.m., detectives were still on the scene investigating.
No further details were immediately available.
