As is hometown hero and tennis legend Andre Agassi’s tradition the night before his star-studded Grand Slam for Children benefit at the Wynn, he unveiled the art to be auctioned at his gala.
Andre, in an interview posted Wednesday, believes that his fundraising tonight will surpass $100 million raised over 16 years of Grand Slam events, and thus assuring that his Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy here will live in perpetuity.
Photographer Denise Truscello was on hand at the charter school yesterday for this year’s unveiling. Denise is teaching photography to the students at Agassi Prep, and an exhibit of their work is now on display at the school. Photographer Peter Lik printed the 24 images that the students shot at the school.
Denise said: “They give the viewer an inside look at their day-to-day life, and the photos will remain on permanent display there.”
This year’s featured artist was another great photographer, Annie Leibovitz, whose lens work and portraits have been featured in many magazines. Her epic image of “Michael Jackson, Man in the Mirror” will be up for auction at tonight’s glittering event starring Martina McBride, Jimmy Kimmel, Michael Buble, Smokey Robinson and Train, details of which we posted yesterday in the Weekend Celebrity Preview.
