Should Arbor View have accepted game with Gorman?

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer are back with their weekly high school football podcast. This week's episode plays more like a variety show, as the two touch on a number of issues related to last week's gridiron action.

The Canyon Springs High football team remained undefeated in Northeast Division play Friday with a 28-21 victory against host Valley.

But it wasn’t easy.

Valley led 14-12 at halftime before Canyon Springs running back Donnel Pumphrey scored on a 75-yard run early in the third quarter for the eventual game-winning points.

Pumphrey rushed for about 200 yards, but Canyon Springs coach Hunkie Cooper said it could have easily been more. “He could have ran for 400 or 500 yards. He had it going on tonight,” the coach said.

The victory sets up a clash next week against Las Vegas High for the Northeast Division title. Las Vegas is undefeated and Canyon Spring is riding a six-game winning streak.

“They are a well-oiled machine,” Cooper said of Las Vegas.
