Should Arbor View have accepted game with Gorman?

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer are back with their weekly high school football podcast. This week's episode plays more like a variety show, as the two touch on a number of issues related to last week's gridiron action.

Centennial High’s Jacobi Owens rushed for 290 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries Friday in a 32-7 victory against Legacy.

Centennial (5-3 overall, 5-2 Northwest) won its fifth straight game after opening the season with three defeats, which sets up a showdown next week with Cheyenne in the regular season finale to determine the No. 3 seed from the Northwest Division for the playoffs on the line.

The loser receives the No. 4 seed and would have to play two-time defending state championship Bishop Gorman in the Sunset quarterfinals, while the winner would play at Desert Oasis.

“We tell our kids to take one game at time,” Centennial coach Leon Evans said. “We truly believe that tough schedule we started with made us battle tested.”

Centennial lost to Las Vegas High, Palo Verde and Arbor View in consecutive weeks to open the season. Las Vegas and Palo Verde are undefeated.

Coby Newton and Deontae Gilkey had touchdowns for Centennial.
