Interim president named at Nevada State College

An interim president was appointed Friday to take over Nevada State College beginning Nov. 1.

Bart Patterson, the Nevada System of Higher Education’s vice chancellor of administrative and legal affairs, will replace Lesley Di Mare, who is resigning to become president of Colorado State University — Pueblo.

The Board of Regents unanimously approved the appointment.

“Bart Patterson brings a wealth of credibility, intellect and critical thinking to the presidency, as well as his experience as a long-standing advocate for Nevada State College’s mission,” Chairman Jason Geddes said in a press release.

Patterson was appointed to his vice chancellor position in September 2009. He was the system’s chief counsel for about three years and has worked in various capacities there since March 2001.

He worked in private practice for more than 13 years and has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Utah State University and a juris doctor from Duke University School of Law.
