A 19-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Thursday after a crash on Oakey Boulevard at Ivanhoe Way, near Interstate 15, Metro Police said.
Salvatore Cirillo of Las Vegas was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson XL883L when he collided with a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer about 9:45 a.m., police said.
The Chevrolet was traveling west on Oakey, turning left to head south on Ivanhoe, when the eastbound motorcycle on Oakey struck the right rear of the Blazer, police said.
Cirillo was transported to University Medical Center, police said.
No other injuries were reported. The collision remains under investigation, police said.

These motorcycle riders are getting hit left and right. Still don't know how anyone can even think of riding in this city. It's not the motorcyclists, it's the car/truck/SUV and mini van drivers...worst in the country. Even driving a car, you want armor protection.
As a motorcyclist, you have to approach every intersection cautiously. The "car turning left" situation is so often the cause of accidents.
Not placing blame here, but there have been several accidents just this week in which this happened.
Incidentally, I rode in Vegas for one year and hung up the boots after my reg expired. Not worth the risk. Loved riding through Red Rock, but commuting was too dangerous.
