Mitzi Gaynor

It was a night out on the town for world-famous illusionists Siegfried & Roy when they went to visit silver screen legend Mitzi Gaynor to reminisce about old-time showbiz memories -- and her amazing dancing that puts the youngsters on Dancing With the Stars to shame. Remember her amazing "Why Am I So Gone About That Gal” dance with Gene Kelly from 1957’s Les Girls?

The 80-year-old actress, singer and dancer is still going strong and performed for three consecutive nights in the Orleans showroom -- her first visit to Las Vegas in a decade. It was, in a sense, a homecoming for Mitzi as she premiered here as a headliner in 1961.

She continued to perform here on and off at Strip showrooms for three decades and appeared with such headliners as The Rat Pack of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Thanks to contributing photographer Scott Harrison for his photo gallery -- he was backstage when Siegfried & Roy visited with her in her dressing room after the show. Earlier, former Mayor Oscar Goodman stopped by during her rehearsals to welcome her back to the city.

It’s difficult to believe that the legendary star is still lighting up the stage in her 80th year with the glitz, glamour and energy she always exuded onscreen. Her show Razzle Dazzle: My Life Behind the Sequins is an unforgettable love letter to yesteryear showbiz in a part concert and part autobiographical tribute.

For her show, the last she’ll perform this year after just five others around the country in 2011, the entertainment icon had fashion designer Bob Mackie create six new breathtaking costumes for her rare return visit.

Congratulations to Mitzi’s razzle dazzle: She’s still radiating all that electrifying magic and incredible spirit!
