A court challenge is being mounted to block an anti-abortion Nevada ballot initiative that would change the state constitution to define life as beginning at conception, and demand civil rights for unborn children.
A coalition including the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood Federation of America is backing six Nevada voters in a lawsuit filed Thursday in state court in Carson City. The suit seeks to stop an initiative drive launched last month by a group named Personhood Nevada.
The lawsuit seeks a declaration the initiative is invalid because it is overbroad and vague, and an injunction to stop it from being included on the November 2012 ballot.
The legal effort is similar to one that blocked a similarly worded measure from the 2010 ballot.

If it passed it can sit in Article I right next to no same sex marriages in completely ignorant defiance of the Section 1's promise of "Inalienable rights."
The high courts of this land and of this state have long ago decided no state has the authority to dictate to anyone whether or not one may have children. This is just the latest efforts by religious zealots and their lawyers to impose their morality on the rest of us, something the Bill of Rights rightfully protects us from.
". . .With morality the individual is led into being a function of the herd and to ascribing value to himself only as a function. . .Morality is the herd instinct in the individual." -- Frederich Nietzsche 1882 "The Gay Science"
