Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer take a look around the Las Vegas high school football scene. They give their picks for the upcoming week and discuss the merits of eating orange wedges on long gameday road trips.

Leon Hayes scored four touchdowns Thursday to lead the Desert Pines High football team past visiting Valley, 35-0.
Hayes, a senior with a scholarship offer from UTEP, had two rushing touchdowns and found the end zone on an interception and kickoff return. After opening the season with four straight defeats, Desert Pines has won its last two games.
“We are starting to flip into our groove,” Desert Pines coach Paul Bennett said. “We talk about taking one week at a time and moving forward.”
Sophomore Eric Wilkes added a touchdown run for the Jaguars, which plays Rancho next week.
“We are feeling confident, but (Rancho) is a quality team. We aren’t looking past anybody,” Bennett said.
