Apparently our gluttony is attracting tourists.
Last week, one website said Las Vegas was the sixth most gluttonous city in the nation. This week, a different website says Las Vegas is the No. 9 food and wine destination in the country.
“Think beyond cheapo all-you-can-eat buffets,” according to travel website TripAdvisor. “Nowadays, Las Vegas’ high-end casinos feature restaurants from some of the world’s most celebrated chefs. You’ll also find plenty of old-school steakhouses and a slew of breakfast joints. After all, if you’ve stayed up all night playing blackjack, you’ve got to eat somewhere, right?”
TripAdvisor listed the top food and wine destinations based on reviews submitted to the website. Lists were issued for the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, Central and South America, the South Pacific and India.
The top 10 food and wine destinations in the United States were New Orleans; Napa, Calif.; Chicago; Charleston, S.C.; San Francisco; New York City; Savannah, Ga.; Santa Fe, N.M.; Las Vegas; and Asheville, N.C.
