Stretch of Elkhorn Road to close for 6 months

Flood project

Part of Elkhorn Road in the northwest valley will be closed for about six months.

The closure is to allow construction of a storm drain improvement project. Elkhorn Road will be closed to through traffic between Torrey Pines and Jones Boulevard beginning Monday and continuing until March.

Most of the work will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the traffic restrictions will be in effect 24 hours a day.

The work is part of a $30 million storm drain project that began in December. The project includes improvements along Decatur Boulevard from the Las Vegas Beltway to Elkhorn and on Elkhorn from Decatur to Torrey Pines Drive.

The Clark County Regional Flood Control District, the city and the Regional Transportation Commission are funding the project. The contractor is Meadow Valley Contractors and Louis Berger & Associates is the construction manager.
