It was very disappointing to see the Las Vegas Sun give full-page coverage to the UFC. First of all, the UFC does not come close to resembling martial arts, mixed or not, any more than the gladiators resembled the sport of fencing. It is nothing more than a contained street brawl among, at best, street thugs. It is a very discouraging commentary on the status of American society.
The only difference between the UFC and the Roman gladiators is the fact that the gladiators fought to the death. I suspect it is only a matter of time before the UFC introduces fights to the death to boost ratings. If so, I am positive the Fox network will be right there to broadcast it. How much lower can we go?
